In November 2024, Gen Z was horrified at the sight they saw on their phone screens. That was a TikTok post of skinny jeans worn by none other than social media sensation Alix Earle.

In a Get Ready With Me TikTok, Earle showed viewers the process she underwent to pick out an outfit for her Boyfriend Braxton Berrios's Miami Dolphins game. Her chosen outfit included a t-shirt and trucker completed with black skinny jeans. One viewer commented on the video, "Alix tell me rn are skinny jeans back?". Earle made a video reply to the comment where she flaunted a different pair of skinny jeans. Commenters on the video were quick to christen Earle as the revivalist of the jean style.

Three months after posting that TikTok, Earle continues pioneering the revival of skinny jeans. Last Thursday, January 23rd, Frame released a collaboration with Alix Earle called the Alix jean. The collaboration comprised two washes in the Alix jean, Black Coated and Flaunt. The Alix in Flaunt retails for $128 and the Alix in Black Coated retails for $148. Both styles have already sold out online. On their website, Frame dubs the style "A skinny jean comeback" and says, "Iconic styles always have staying power. Long and lean, the skinny jean is back. A classic silhouette designed to flatter and elongate, The Alix is all about the legs."

Before this collaboration, Earle had previously worked with Frame in their seasonal campaigns. In a press release, Earle says, "Having 'The Alix' skinny jean available at Frame feels like a major milestone moment for me. I've secretly kept a pair in my closet for years, and when I first met with Erik in 2023 to discuss a potential Frame collaboration, I couldn't resist pitching the idea of bringing this classic (although some might say controversial) wardrobe staple back."

Although Earle is glad to share her skinny jean collection, there are mixed opinions on the revival of the style. On Tik Tok, Brigette Pheloung, better known under her platform handle @aquiredstyle, embraced the new Frame Collection, saying, "I hate to tell you this, but the skinny jean is back." She tried on both pairs of Earle's collaboration and described the jeans as "flattering."

Not everyone was as accepting as Brigette. In a different TikTok post from user @allina_ai, which has accumulated thousands of likes, she put text on the post reading, "No tea no shade but I would NEVER get the frame Alix skinny jeans." Comments under the post shared a similar viewpoint.

Amid the controversy of bringing the skinny jean back, Earle has remained level-headed and committed to giving back. In an Instagram post, Frame writes, "FRAME and Alix Earle will donate a portion of net sales of The Alix Jean to support recovery efforts for the LA fires."
